Abstract

The article presents the outcomes of the research concerning the adaptation strategies taken by Ukrainians arriving in Poland since February 2022. The authors start by presenting basic statistical data describing the presence of Ukrainians in Poland, pointing out insufficiencies in such data. Then they outline the objectives of their own research and describe its methodology (individual in-depth interviews), while conducting a critical review of the literature of the subject, focusing in particular on the concept of acculturation, which is popular in migration and refugee studies. Finally, the authors propose their own typology of social presence of Ukrainians in Poland, based on the individual interviews with Ukrainians settled in Poland.
